| Ran with my bridge run training group. We started at the Cooper River Bridge Run start line and ran to the bridge and back. The fastest folks in the group got to the center of the span and came back. The slowest got as far as the off-ramp before returning to the start. Good time hanging out with everybody afterwards.

Friday, March 27th, 2009| Good ride this morning. New shoes, new shorts. I love the cycling shoes. They work very well with the toe clips and can work with clipless peddles as well. New shorts had much better padding then the old ones. Also, discovered I need to adjust the seat a little bit. Dace, my wrench, gave me a bunch of good advice post ride to make some adjustments to my riding position.

End of Boot Camp
Friday, March 27th, 2009I can’t believe I’ve done 6 12-week Boot Camps – 3 years worth – along with most of the summer sessions. It’s really changed me. I can’t imagine exercise not being part of my life. I don’t remember what it was like to wake up every morning and just go to work and then come home.
We did the final PFT on Monday. I an a 9.59 mile which is way off for me but I’m coming back. I was not able to do the crucnches due to the ab injury and I did 34 push ups. I hate push ups.
The last day of Boot Camp was great. It was probably one of the most intense sessions of the three weeks. You knew you had done something when you were done.

Thursday Boot Camp
Thursday, March 19th, 2009Great workout today led by Sgt Haumschild. Over 100 people and one instructor but he did an outstanding job. Everybody was motivated this morning. We did a lot of sprinting which was good for me. I was still stiff and sore from Monday and Tuesday’s workouts which included lots of sumo squats and lunges. This is definitely the kind of workout that pushes me beyond where I would go on my one. If we had done one more full length sprint, I’m sure I would have decorated the floor.
We ended up in the gym with body bars at the end. I love it when they ask for maximum effort in a certain amount of time. I’m always sore the next day.

Friday, March 13th, 2009| Good ride. First time with the child trailer. Wanted to go all the way to Sullivans Island but the shoulder was blocked leading on to the island and traffic was haevy so I came bacl. Lot of wind on the causeway.

Thursday Boot Camp
Thursday, March 12th, 2009Today’s workout was a little more intense thanks to Lt’s McKee and Ulcak. First, everybody had to learn the proper way to do a Burpee. I still can’t keep up with others but that’s ok – my workout is about me. And Lt McKee made high knees all about me. If he hadn’t walked away from me when he did, I would have puking.
Majority of the workout was on the roof. We broke into ability groups and first did an leg set of exercises, ran 3 laps, sprinting the straights, recovery on the curve. Then did an ab set and then did a sprinting, running/agility set of exercise. The first one did me in. Grab your ankles and walk.
