Monday Run 05:24 pm

Good run. I ran with Steve. he had a new Forerunner so it was fun to compare notes and stats at the end.

I was trying to run by heart rate and not very successfully. I think if I want to stay healthy for the marathon, I need to stick to my plan of taking it easy on Mondays.

Cooper River Bridge Run 01:46 pm

Ran the Cooper River Bridge this afternoon. It’s not something I normally do in the middle of the afternoon this time of year. But, there was a “breeze” and it didn’t seem too hot. Actually it was hot - it turns out that the humidity wasn’t too bad and that made a big difference. As the afternoon storm rolled in the wind rotated and it seemed I was running into the wind both ways - I hate that.

Felt pretty good but my left achilles is still a bot bothersome. I think I’ll take off of running for the next two weeks and just hit the cardio really hard.

100 push ups - 100 crunches - 100 squats

This was Saturday’s TBC workout. We started out with a one mile warm up and then did 20 pushups, 25 crunches, and 25 squats. To complete the circuit, we ran one lap and  then finished the circuit with anohter 20 pushups. And these were all done to a Marine Corps four-count. One MC exercise = 2 actual repetitions. 2 push ups = 4. Once we are all done with that, we paid tribute to SSgt Parr and 2Lt Farrer and ended with flutter kicks, Hello Dollys and leg lifts.

Then we went to breakfast and this week we were pretty good. Two eggs and two slices of dry wheat toast.

Friday Glide

Spent 45 minutes on the arc trainer this morning. HR at 125-130. We ran pretty hard in Boot Camp yesterday so I delayed my long run by one day - which isn’t very long this week. For those of you who are regular readers - I didn’t work out on Monday but was at Boot Camp on Tuesday and Thursday.

Wednesday group Run 06:02 am

Good run this morning. We started out a bit fast so I didn’t pick it up much after the first mile. Ran with Rhonda, Mitchell, Cathy, and Nancy. Rhonda and I ran a little shorter distance than the others.

10-Mile Run Part 1 - 04:44 am

That first mile was tough. If the second had been as hard, I would have called it a day. Worked until almost 10 and then got up at 4 so that I could run 5 before I ran 5 with Grady at 5.50.

Thursday Boot Camp

Divided up by ability levels. I was in a group that runs 8-10 min/mile. I’m on the fast end of that spectrum and couldn’t keep up when the pace picked up. Pretty discouraging. And then my Achilles started aching again. Once we finished running, we did a group workout. All arms and abs. We finished with sprints and agility drills on the roof.

Wednesday Run 06:00 am

First long run with new shoes and inserts. I could tell during mile 4 that I was wearing the new inserts but by the time I finished, the discomfort had dissappeared.

This was a good run. I was able to push things and my Achilles and calves didn’t bother me. They were still tight but not painful.

Nancy, Mitchell, Allan, Rhonda, Cathy, Tammy, and Emily were all there. Good group to run with.
