Thursday Workout

30 minutes on the bike

Thursday Boot Camp

Good workout today. Smaller groups. Ten arm exercise. Four laps. Ten leg exercises. Four laps. Ten core exercises. 2 laps. The first two runs, I went back and finished with team members and did 6 laps. Good day but I am worn out.

Wednesday Treadmill

30 minutes walking. Watching paint dry is more stimulating.

Official Weigh-In

214 - last one (2 weeks ago) at Dr Slott’s was 216. Last week at Healthy Charleston was 212. Frustrating.

Update to the Charlie Post Classic

When I wrote my original post about the Charlie Post Classic I knew my Healthy Charleston Team would read the blog. Everybody else had left and they announced the age group winners in the 65-69 age group. Our Charilla Barham won her age division and it was her first race. We grabbed the trophy and I got it to Sgt. McKee. He gave it to her this past Monday.Sgt Benjamin McKee and Charilla Barham

Wednesday Run

Started out with the intention of running with my friend, Grady, outside. It was raining and he hasn’t run on the roads in a long time, so not wanting the run to be a completely unpleasant experience, we instead ran on the track.

Grady is a little slower than I am -  I know some will think that’s not possible - so we ran at his tempo pace. He tended to push a little beyond his tempo pace where he couldn’t talk at all. His tempo/threshold  pace is somewhere between my recovery pace and tempo pace - closer to my tempo pace so I still got a good workout.

Our workout - each lap is 1/6 mile

Warm-up: 3 laps
Tempo - 2 laps
Recovery - 1 laps
Tempo - 2 laps
Recovery - 1.5 laps
Tempo - 2 laps
Recovery 1.5 laps
Total - 13 laps - 2 1/3 mile

At this point Grady was having problems with his shins so we had to back off. He ended up walking with another team member while I finished my workout.

3 repeats:
Threshold - 2 laps
Recovery - 1 lap

Cool down - 3 laps
Total - 2 miles

Tuesday Glide

Spent 90 minutes on the elliptical. Couldn’t get in to the gym until late and then closed the place down. Didn’t want to push it real hard because I want to push it a little harder in the morning.

Tuesday Boot Camp

Did our warm up and then the group ran a mile as individuals. I ran with Steven and then finished with the rest of our team. Went inside for sprint drills and then we finished with an ab workout. Good day.

The Non-Run

Went to pick up Jez and ended up taking her sister with us. She was all over the place and eventually we looped back and dropped her off. Jez and I continued on but I had to be somewhere by 6 so had to cut the run short.
